Voices and Mental Illness
I have been working in the field of mental illness for ten years and have witnessed many of my clients or residents who experienced voices that for the most part were negative. Almost all individuals that experience voices have had a difficult childhood. Many are quite sensitive and pick up feelings of others and can not differentiate between theirs and someone else’s. Some experience both visual and auditory hallucinations which are more traumatic then just auditory voices.
The voices they hear often will not let up with constant jabbering. Medications can alleviate the voices somewhat but not entirely. Many will listen to music via radio, ipod, play wi to name a few.
